The launch of the ‘Amrit Gyan Kosh’ Portal and the ‘Faculty Development Portal’ was officially announced at the Civil Service Training Institutions Convention in New Delhi. These portals are key initiatives under the National Capacity Building Commission and Mission Karmayogi Bharat, aimed at modernizing civil service training and enhancing the capabilities of government employees across India.
Key Highlights:
- Amrit Gyan Kosh Portal: This portal serves as a centralized knowledge bank, offering India-centric case studies and learning materials. It provides civil service training institutions with resources that are more relevant to the Indian context, reducing dependence on foreign knowledge materials.
- Faculty Development Portal: The portal focuses on improving the teaching capabilities of practitioners and faculty members involved in training civil servants. This initiative is critical for ensuring that knowledge is effectively communicated and applied in the context of governance.
- Accreditation and Quality Improvement: Over 140 training institutions have been accredited under the National Standards for Civil Services Training Institutions. Furthermore, 13 Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) were introduced to enhance the quality of civil service training.
- Mission Karmayogi Bharat: The mission has successfully trained 31 lakh government employees annually, marking a significant shift towards a competency-driven approach to governance. This initiative extends beyond civil servants, offering capacity-building opportunities to all citizens who wish to contribute to national development.
Mission Karmayogi Overview
Mission Karmayogi is a comprehensive program launched to reform the Indian civil services by shifting the focus from “rule-based” to “role-based” training. The mission introduces a competency framework that aligns with the evolving needs of governance and society. Central to this initiative is the iGOT Karmayogi platform, a digital learning ecosystem that provides civil servants with access to personalized training and development resources anytime, anywhere. The mission also emphasizes behavioral training, ethical governance, and continuous learning, aiming to create a more agile, responsive, and citizen-centric civil service. Through collaboration with national and international institutions, Mission Karmayogi ensures that Indian civil servants are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet 21st-century challenges.
These initiatives collectively represent a significant step toward creating a future-ready civil service that is deeply rooted in Indian values while being globally competitive. Mission Karmayogi, in particular, reflects the government’s commitment to fostering a more capable and responsive bureaucracy, essential for achieving India’s development goals by 2047
