The government has launched two key initiatives to support and empower micro and small enterprises:
- MSME Trade Enablement and Marketing (TEAM):
- Aims to onboard 5,00,000 micro and small enterprises onto the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform.
- Provides financial assistance for onboarding, cataloguing, account management, logistics, packaging material, and design.
- Half of the beneficiary MSMEs will be women-owned enterprises.
- Focuses on six priority areas:
- Formalisation and access to credit
- Increased access to markets and e-commerce adoption
- Enhanced productivity through modern technology
- Improved skill levels and digitalisation in the service sector
- Support for Khadi Village and Coir industries to globalise them
- Empowerment of women and artisans through enterprise creation
- Yashaswini Campaign:
- A mass awareness campaign to formalise women-led informal micro-enterprises.
- Provides capacity building, training, handholding, and mentorship.
- Aims to increase access to capital and trade opportunities with large corporations.
- Will be implemented through a series of campaigns in collaboration with other Central Ministries, State Governments, and Women Industry Associations, focusing on tier 2 and 3 cities during FY24-25 targeting one lakh women entrepreneurs.
The launch of these initiatives underscores the importance of digital and technological adoption by MSMEs in an evolving industrial landscape. These efforts are part of the broader government reforms aimed at enhancing the growth and competitiveness of the MSME sector, contributing to the ‘Atmanirbhar’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision.
