Launch of the Alliance for Global Good – Gender Equity and Equality Logo and Website

Event Overview: On February 28, 2024, Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani from the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) unveiled the logo and website for the Alliance for Global Good – Gender Equity and Equality. The launch event was held in New Delhi and featured prominent figures such as Bill Gates of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Logo Design and Symbolism:

  • Structure: The logo is crafted to represent the letter “e,” symbolizing Equality and Equity.
  • Imagery: It features parallel strokes that illustrate collective actions by governments, industries, and institutions aimed at empowering women worldwide.
  • Color Scheme: The tricolors in the logo stand for:
    • Saffron: Strength and courage
    • White: Truth
    • Green: Growth
    • Red Dot: Prosperity
  • Inspiration: The design draws inspiration from Lord Ganesha, embodying intellect, wisdom, and understanding.

About the Alliance:

  • Initiation: The Alliance was initiated by India on the sidelines of the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in January 2024, held in Davos, Switzerland.
  • Purpose: It aims to foster gender equality through consolidating global practices, promoting knowledge sharing, and stimulating investments in key areas like women’s health, education, and enterprise, aligning with various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
