Centre Extends DHIS by a Year Till June 2025 to Digitize Patients’ Health Records
The Government of India (GoI) has announced an extension of the Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) by one year, pushing the deadline to June 30, 2025, or until the allocated funds are exhausted. This initiative aims to digitize patients’ health records and seamlessly integrate them with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Account (ABHA ID).
Originally set to conclude on June 30, 2024, the DHIS extension underscores the government’s commitment to accelerating the adoption of digital healthcare services across the country. By promoting the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the scheme seeks to create a comprehensive digital health ecosystem that ensures secure and efficient healthcare delivery.
As part of the DHIS, hospitals receive an incentive of Rs 20 per patient for digitizing health records and linking them with ABHA IDs. This financial support is designed to encourage healthcare providers to transition to digital record-keeping, enhancing the quality of care and streamlining patient management processes.
The extension of DHIS is a crucial step towards achieving a fully digital health infrastructure in India, fostering better healthcare outcomes and improved patient experiences.
